Supporting R.I.C.K – Our Prime Directive
The NSCLO Prime Directive - I am deliberate in my interactions, everything will be done with Respect, Integrity, Caring, & Knowledge (R.I.C.K.) - sets a clear standard for how member agencies engage with the individuals they support. This directive underscores the critical importance of thoughtful, intentional engagement in every interaction with those we support.
The guiding framework of R.I.C.K. ensures that these interactions are consistently imbued with four core values:
Incorporating these principles into the operating procedures of our member agencies is paramount to ensuring the highest quality of support and fostering an environment where individuals feel valued and understood.
When all interactions with persons supported are deliberate and guided by Respect, Integrity, Caring, and Knowledge, agencies can more effectively promote the self-care and overall well-being of these individuals. This approach encourages member agencies to actively listen, understand unique needs, and provide support that is not only effective but also empowering.
By making the Prime Directive central to their operational standards, member agencies commit to a culture that prioritizes the rights, dignity, and individual growth of the persons they serve, leading to more meaningful and positive outcomes for everyone involved. This focus also encourages staff to engage in self-reflection to ensure their actions consistently uphold these crucial principles in service of those they support.
