DESCRIPTION:Leading Change at Work: Addressing Intimate Partner & Domestic Violence is a national workplace training designed to equip employers\, managers\, and employees with the knowledge and tools to recognize\, respond to\, and prevent the impacts of intimate partner and domestic violence in the workplace. This training is grounded in prevention and can be tailored to the unique needs of an organization. \nLearning Outcomes\n1. Explain the scope\, impact\, and dynamics of IPV/DV in Nova Scotia and Canada.\n2. Differentiate the types of IPV/DV and recognize their effects on individuals\, families\, and workplace environments\,\n3. Identify the signs of IPV/DV at work and understand how it can affect employee safety\, performance\, and well-being\n4. Apply the “Recognize\, Respond\, Refer” framework.\n5. This training will be delivered by a NTG Certified Instructor\, and is being offered through partnership with the WIPSI program through the Nova Scotia Department of Labour\, Skills\, and Immigration. \nTopics include: \nIntroduction to Aging & ID \n\n Understanding Dementia in Adults with ID\n What is Dementia?\nHow does it present differently in Adults with ID?\n Early Detection and Screening for Dementia in ID\n Obtaining a Diagnosis\n Health Care Advocacy for Adults with ID and Dementia\n Understanding Responsive behaviors associated with Dementia\n Non-pharmacologic Interventions\n Communication Tips & Strategies\n Adapting the Physical Environment\n Dementia Capable Homes\n Stage-based Considerations\n Bridging Aging and Disability Networks.\n\nThe goal of this workshop is to develop a greater understanding of dementia and its effects on people with intellectual disabilities\, greater capacity to provide dementia-capable direct services to adults with ID and dementia\, and knowledge of how to develop a dementia-capable environment and support. \nThe workshop is appropriate for any staff with direct or ancillary support responsibilities of older adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in disability-related\, health care\, and aging-related agencies. (Direct Support Professionals\, PSWs\, Supervisors\, Long Term Care personnel\, Alzheimer Society\, etc.) \nThis training will be held in HRM\, registration details to follow.
